Concord, North Carolina (June 18, 2018) – Competing in his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event with Kyle Busch Motorsports, Christian Eckes finished eighth behind the wheel of his No.46 Mobil 1 Tundra in Saturday’s event at Iowa Speedway.
Qualifying ninth before his series debut, Eckes, 17, battled for a spot during the early stages of the race before contact from another competitor sent him spinning without damage entering Turn 3. Able to avoid contact with the inside wall, Eckes recovered, regaining his composure moving on to score a solid top-10 finish in his maiden truck series voyage.
"It started out a little rough,” commented Eckes after the race. “Not exactly sure what happened on the backstretch there but we got in a wreck and had to fight back all day. Everybody on this 46 Mobil 1 team did a great job today getting me where I needed to be. Unfortunately, it wasn't the finish that I really wanted at the end, but a top-10 finish in my debut is definitely a positive."
Eckes will have a quick turnaround this week when he travels to St. Louis for double duty action in both the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards event Friday and the NASCAR Truck Series Eaton 200 Saturday night from Gateway Motorsports Park.
